Surf, Beach, Sun and Bikinis Montañita is a favorite spot for national and international surfers and young adventure tourists. This charming town offers a variety of inexpensive hostels, national and international food, and an exhilarating nightlife. As the beach is great for surfing, there are three national and one international surf competitions in Montañita. These spectacles bring surfers in droves during carnival to the Punta, the characteristic rock of “Baja Montañita”. Montañita consists of two small towns, the original main town of “Alta Montañita”, about one kilometer in the south, off the beaten track (5min. in the north of Manglaralto) and “Baja Montañita” on the northern end of the beach, where surfers and bodysurfers meet in the afternoon. A few kilometers in the north of “Baja Montañita” is the small town Olón. The wide beach of Olón is crowned with an outstanding Sanctuary, with open walls and a breathtaking view of the beach.
