CALENDAR OF EVENTS
QUITO FESTIVITIES
A festive mood invades the city of Quito as it celebrates its Spanish Foundation, which took place on December 6th 1534. An important bullfighting fair is held, and flamenco shows are offered in most hotels and restaurants, as well as Spanish food menus. Traditions also include wooden cart races, card games competitions and typical serenades. Old-fashioned buses converted into party-mobiles called “chivas” can be seen throughout the city, with people enjoying live bands and a typical drink called canelazo, consisting of a warm fruit juice and liquor. The biggest parties take place on Saturday 5th.
