| World Bird Festival |
Every October, thousands of people from
all over the planet join in cultural, artistic and bird watching
events to celebrate the World Bird Festival, an initiative
of Bird Life International. Since the first festival in 1993,
more than 80.000 people have participated. The Guinness World
Records Book has certified it as the largest environmental
event in the world.
“Aves
& Conservacion”, the Ornithological Corporation
of Ecuador, is the official partner of Bird Life International.
Ecuador holds 17% of all the bird species of the planet, and
50%of all the hummingbird species. With 1.616 species, Ecuador
is the third country in the world in regards to bird diversity,
and the first country in regards to bird species per area.
Several activities are organized throughout
the country to celebrate this Bird Festival: photo exhibits,
films, murals, bicycle routes and eco-routes, concerts, guided
visits to natural sites, launching of a website with the bird
